What is the difference between PA and voice evacuation?
A PA system makes announcements and plays music. A voice evacuation (voice alarm) system is a life-safety system: certified equipment, monitored speaker circuits, standby power and automatic messages triggered by the fire alarm. A well-designed voice alarm system can also do everyday PA.
Does my building need voice evacuation?
Requirements depend on building type, occupancy and the local authority having jurisdiction. We review the approved fire strategy and design accordingly, and we can explain the options to your consultant.
Can we play background music on an evacuation system?
Yes. Background music and paging run at normal priority. When the fire alarm triggers, emergency messages override everything in the affected zones.
How do you prove intelligibility?
We model coverage during design, then measure speech transmission index (STI) on site during commissioning and record the results.
