There is no single gadget that solves the drone problem. Effective counter-UAS is a layered capability that builds from awareness outward: detecting that a drone is present, tracking it, understanding the situation, and enabling an appropriate, lawful response coordinated with the proper authorities.
The layers of capability
- Detection: knowing a drone is present
- Tracking: following its position and movement
- Assessment: understanding the situation and intent
- Response: an appropriate, lawful and authorised course of action
Awareness comes first
The emphasis is deliberately on detection, tracking and assessment, the awareness that lets decision-makers understand what they face. Good decisions depend on a clear picture, and most of the value of a counter-UAS capability lies in providing one.
Within the law and with authority
Any response to a drone must be lawful and properly authorised, coordinated with aviation and security authorities. Counter-UAS capabilities are provided to authorised organisations under the applicable approvals, and planned within that legal framework.
Capabilities are shared confidentially, with authorised organisations only.
